Dr. Joseph Pelzman, Ph.D., J.D. Dr. Pelzman is the Chairman of the IGTTC. Professor of Economics, International Affairs and Law at George Washington University, Dr. Pelzman is an internationally recognized expert in Global Trade, advising sovereign nations and many prominent trading companies. A former Brookings Economic Policy Fellow, Dr. Pelzman has held appointments at Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Israel), Catholic University Law School, Radzyner School Of Law, The Interdisciplinary Center (Herzliya, Israel), The Maurice Falk Institute for Economic Research (Israel), The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and at The Russian Research Center at Harvard University. Dr. Pelzman teaches graduate seminars on International Trade Theory; International Trade Law; Law and Economics and the Economics of the Middle East. He has also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Trade, Aid and Security Coalition (TASC) at the Global Works Foundation and the Partnership for Economics Education and Research Foundation (PEER). Dr. Pelzman received his B.A. in economics from Boston College and began his MA in Soviet Studies at Harvard University. His Ph.D. in Economics was completed at Boston College in 1976. After 20 years as an economics faculty member, Dr. Pelzman entered George Washington Law School and completed his JD in 1998. He is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland. Mr. Arnold R. Wallenstein Mr. Wallenstein is the Chief Legal Adviser to the IGTTC, with 30 years experience in the development, construction, financing, operation, acquisition and disposition of renewable energy and fossil fueled electric power generation facilities in the U.S. and Europe. In the renewable energy industry, Mr. Wallenstein has participated in the development and construction of five biomass fueled generation facilities in the U.S., the first major wind farm in Massachusetts and was legal counsel to the Northeast Solar Energy Center, a solar energy and R&D company. He is presently an adviser to a company which is building a facility to manufacture and distribute solar photovoltaic equipment, as well as a company developing a wind farm in southeastern Massachusetts. In the public sector, he has acted as legal counsel to the six New England Governors on energy and environmental matters and currently serves on the American Arbitration Association’s National Roster of Neutral Arbitrators arbitrating major disputes between IPPs, utilities, power purchasers, EPC contractors and equipment suppliers. In private practice he has represented independent power companies, municipal utilities, turbine manufacturers and renewable energy companies. Presently, Mr. Wallenstein is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Advanced Power Services North America, an independent power developer. For 16 years he was the Assistant General Counsel of Thermo Electron Corporation and General Counsel of Thermo Ecotek Corporation. Mr. Wallenstein has a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.S. in Environmental Health Sciences from the Harvard School of Public Health and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Ron Kelly Mr. Kelly is the Senior Energy Adviser to the IGTTC. A veteran energy developer with 30+ years experience in the US power market as both a business developer and engineer. Mr. Kelly is the Consulting Lead for all IGTTC Renewable Energy due diligence work. Mr. Kelly has extensive experience in design, siting, operations, acquisitions and divestitures within the energy industry, where he has worked with gas turbines, co-generation, wind power, geothermal and biomass projects and as a business developer and engineer designing power project control systems. He is very knowledgeable about the US power market deregulation and RPS development. Mr. Kelly, a registered professional engineer, has an MBA from Babson College, BS in Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and served in the US Naval Reserves with active duty in the US Merchant Marines. Frederick Altman Mr. Altman is the Senior Trade Adviser to the IGTTC, having worked his entire professional career as an expert marketer for international companies seeking to gain a foothold in the U.S. and local companies eager to grow through exports. During his extensive career, Mr. Altman conceived, started and operated many successful permanent trade showrooms in the U.S., including projects for the novelties industry, clothing companies, antique dealers, as well as specialized trade shows for unfinished furniture and jewelry. TradeCenter128 was built on the same lot as the North East Trade Center, a permanent trade center created by Mr. Altman to feature 147 apparel showrooms. From his European HQ in Holland, Mr. Altman also organized trade shows in Dusseldorf, Paris and London and created “Marketing in the USA,” a well-known trade seminar series for European executives, in Switzerland. He has developed markets for advanced optical interference filters, vacuum hopper systems for the plastics industry, Italian furniture, spiral staircases, 10-speed bicycles, and zippers, among many, many other products. Mr. Altman remains active with several European exporters and organizing the IGTTC program. Joshua Levitt Mr. Levitt is the Chief Executive of IGTTC. A communications expert, Mr. Levitt has advised major energy developers, hedge funds, industrial lobbies and property companies on public relations, presentation and crisis issues via corporate communications advisory Advanced P.R. In the sustainable energy sector, Mr. Levitt advised a leading European energy developer that required extensive political, community and technical interaction for a new U.S. project. As part of the community relations campaign, he hosted the controversial "Power Hour" radio program on WXBR to educate consumers about the political and economic issues surrounding energy reform. The former Madrid Correspondent for the Financial Times newspaper, Mr. Levitt was awarded a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship at Columbia University’s Business and Journalism Schools upon returning from Spain. He graduated from the International Relations program at Tufts University and is fluent in Spanish and has studied French, Portuguese, Hebrew and Arabic. Roch Nakajima Mr. Nakajima leads the Branding and Advertising team. Via the ROCK Group, he produces integrated advertising campaigns that incorporate print, video, display and web elements. Clients include Orbus Medical Technologies, Johnson & Johnson, Canon, Audi Sport North America, Porsche and Champion Racing Cigarette Racing Team, Magnum Marine, Aero Toy Store, Playboy, in addition to many property developments and resorts, as well as start-up entrepreneurs. A world traveler and son of United Nations diplomats, Mr. Nakajima graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in development economics. He is fluent in German, French and Japanese. |
